Power Outage? A Perfect Day for Making Art!

Valentine's Day Bouquet
Woke up to a few more inches of snow and gusty winds. Very happy I shoveled off the deck last night as the top of the snow from last night was frozen from the rain, and the new snow is crusty. Beautiful to look at! The wind was gusty and in about an hour the power was off. Not really a problem! Several snow-day projects are lined up and waiting. But on this day, I dragged out the oil paints and enjoyed a beautiful bouquet of tulips given me by our friends who visited this past weekend! It's always a challenge for me to paint in oils. Unlike watercolors, the oil makes the brush drag, the paints don't mix the same way, and clean-up takes a little more effort. Well worth the effort, I think. After a few hours the power was back on and my painting is mostly done. I will wait a day or two for the surface to get tacky, then add a few more touches of dark and a few more bright highlights. Also, happy the flowers are in a crystal vase that was my mother's! And, happy I didn't cave in and give up the day to other things! So, Happy Valentine's Day!
