Topsmeade State Forest is located in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. It is the former home of Miss Edith Morton Chase. Visitors may picnic on its lawn and enjoy the beautiful cultivated gardens. On the day that I visited, the Pomperaug Outdoor Painters held a paint out and by pre-arrangement, a lucky artist received private art instruction. It was odd this day that all the watercolorists painted on one side of the house and the oil painters painted on the other side of the house! We didn't plan it that way.
