Early Summer in Mt. Vernon

Enjoyed this almost summer day morning with my painting buddy, Suzanne Savage Brewer. We visited the tiny town of Mt. Vernon, Maine. (secretly, we know the local lunch spot is fantastic!)

The town is tiny and today not quite as profound with flowers as I had recalled. But, eventually I settled in on the shoreline of Lake Minnehonk. Just behind me is an buffer zone area planted by the school children form Mt. Vernon Elementary School with a grant from the Maine DEP and support from the 30 Mile River Watershed Association and community members. They planted blueberry bushes along the lake's shoreline.

As I drew my value study, a grandfather and grand baby walk down to see what I was doing. They made a beautiful focal point against the unusual white house across the street. And, to make it all the more wonderful, the lilacs were still in bloom!

It really doesn't take long for people to find out where you are. In this tiny town, about 20 people meandered over to see what I was doing. Local people, their family members, and tourists!! Who would have thought tourists?
